School Based Apprenticeships / Traineeships

School Based Apprenticeships / Traineeships

The Australian Apprenticeships Program incorporates School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBAT).

School Based Apprenticeships/Traineeships enables high school students to combine study with paid employment, the opportunity to gain valuable work skills and increase future employment options. School Based Traineeships are usually 18-24 months in duration and may be completed earlier with additional study and work. School Based Apprenticeships may require further work and study on completion of year 12 and generally take 3-4 years full-time to complete.

School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships allows students in Years 10-12 to attain a nationally recognised qualification while completing and contributing towards their HSC. Qualifications available under the program incorporate both trade and non-trade occupations across a range of industries and vocational areas such as Automotive, Beauty Therapy, Carpentry & Joinery, Hairdressing, Electrotechnology and many more.

Incentives & Financial Assistance

The State and Commonwealth Government offer financial assistance and support to eligible participants and their employers such as - transport concession, financial assistance to reduce travel and accommodation costs, vehicle registration rebate and other financial support depending on the Apprenticeship or Traineeship being undertaken.
