The ATEL / AOF Scholarship

What is it?
Apprentices Trainees Employment Limited (ATEL) as a not-for-profit community based organisation in conjunction with the Australian Overseas Foundation have launched an annual scholarship for young people aged 21-27 who have finished a trade apprenticeship through ATEL to travel and work overseas for 12 months.
 
Who can apply for the ATEL / AOF Scholarship?
  • Australians between the ages of 21 and 27 who have completed a trade apprenticeship with ATEL.
  • Applications should be exceptional in their fields of endeavour, be goal orientated and capable of leadership development.
  • Applicants need to be a top performer during their formal training.
  • Applicants should be involved in their community and capable of being an ambassador for Australia whilst overseas.
  • Applicants should be prepared to travel overseas for employment for a period of one to two years.
What does the ATEL / AOF Scholarship provide?
  • The opportunity to travel and work overseas.
  • Return economy airfares.
  • Some initial accommodation and cost for shipment of tools etc.
  • Assistance in obtaining employment and work visas.
  • Some assistance attending specialised training trade and industry forums.

  • Partake in overseas travel.
  • Meet people in a foreign country and learn about their customs and lifestyle.
  • Extend technical expertise via appropriate on the job work experience.
  • Upon return to Australia, the scholarship winner will have advanced employability as they have worked and possibly studied advanced courses in their chosen field whilst overseas.
  • Scholarship winners have been carefully selected by the selection committee and have come from high achieving backgrounds and having won the Scholarship they have participated in a highly prestigious award programme which is well recognized by business and industry.
  • In effect, the scholarship is a qualification and reference in itself which can be used well into the future during the winner’s career for self promotional purposes.
     

Applications must be lodged to an ATEL Field Officer by June 30 each year.
